The parish of Studham was situated on the boundary between Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire, and included a detached part called Humbershoe which lay to the east and contained part of the village of Markyate. Humbershoe became a separate civil parish in 1866 and was later included in the new ecclesiastical parish of St John Markyate Street. In 1894, the parish of Studham was partitioned into two parts, one on each side of the county border, with Studham (Bedfordshire) included in the Luton Rural District and Studham (Hertfordshire) included in the Markyate Rural District. However, the two parishes were reunited less than three years later in September 1897, when Studham (Hertfordshire) was transferred from Hertfordshire to Bedfordshire.

Mortice locks, which are commonly referred to as 5-lever locks, are the primary locks on many doors )Internals & External doors) and are inserted into a pocket on the side of the door. Insurance companies often require that an appropriate mortice lock be fitted to provide coverage, with the most common standard being BS3621. You can easily check if your lock meets this standard by examining the faceplate for the BS3621 stamp, along with a date and the British Standard Kitemark.

We can recommend alternative locks that meet the BS3621 standard and our locksmiths carry these locks with them at all times, so we can replace your old locks with ease and efficiency. Our skilled professionals use specialised tools and techniques to ensure a smooth installation process, so you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having a secure and reliable lock without any unnecessary hassle. To replace an Insurance Approved 5 lever Deadlock, simply arrange an appointment at a time that suits your schedule with LU Locksmith services by calling this number: 0800 707 4203.

Boarding-up and door repairs are two related services that are commonly offered by locksmiths and other security professionals. These services can be useful in a variety of situations, such as after a break-in, vandalism, or accidental damage to doors or windows.

Boarding-up involves the temporary sealing of a broken or damaged window or door using wooden boards or similar materials. This can help secure the property and prevent further damage or theft until permanent repairs can be made.

Door repairs can involve a range of services, such as fixing or replacing locks, hinges, handles, or other hardware that has been damaged or broken. It may also involve repairing or replacing the door itself if it is severely damaged or beyond repair.

In some cases, it may be necessary to provide emergency door repairs or boarding-up services outside of normal business hours to ensure the safety and security of a property. Locksmiths and other security professionals who offer these services are typically available 24/7 and can respond quickly to emergency situations.

Overall, boarding-up and door repairs are important services that can help secure a property and restore its functionality after damage or break-ins. It is important to choose a reputable and experienced locksmith or security professional to ensure that repairs are done correctly and to a high standard.
