Up until the end of the 20th century, Bramingham was made up of Great Bramingham – a small hamlet comprised of Great Bramingham Farm and a few scattered houses along Great Bramingham Lane, and Little Bramingham Farm located near Bramingham Wood. Today, Little Bramingham farmhouse still stands and is a grade II listed building, situated on Leamington Road.

However, the area experienced significant growth during the 1980s and 1990s, leading it to become a part of Luton and expanding to meet Warden Hill to the east and Marsh Farm to the west. The housing in Bramingham is mainly composed of low-density suburban housing, built in the traditional 80s and 90s new-build style, with many homes featuring mock timber frames or arched windows. Some 19th-century cottages can still be found on Great Bramingham Lane.

Bramingham’s centre is anchored by a parade of shops, a large Sainsbury’s supermarket, Bramingham Park Church, a medical centre, and The Brim and Crown pub (previously known as The Bramingham). Other notable landmarks include Bramingham Primary School, a campus of Barnfield College, and Keech Cottage Hospice – a care charity for both adults and children, located on the former site of Great Bramingham Farm. Additionally, there is a large business park situated on Enterprise Way.

Mortice locks, which are commonly referred to as 5-lever locks, are the primary locks on many doors )Internals & External doors) and are inserted into a pocket on the side of the door. Insurance companies often require that an appropriate mortice lock be fitted to provide coverage, with the most common standard being BS3621. You can easily check if your lock meets this standard by examining the faceplate for the BS3621 stamp, along with a date and the British Standard Kitemark.

We can recommend alternative locks that meet the BS3621 standard and our locksmiths carry these locks with them at all times, so we can replace your old locks with ease and efficiency. Our skilled professionals use specialised tools and techniques to ensure a smooth installation process, so you can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with having a secure and reliable lock without any unnecessary hassle. To replace an Insurance Approved 5 lever Deadlock, simply arrange an appointment at a time that suits your schedule with LU Locksmith services by calling this number: 0800 707 4203.

The locks on uPVC doors are identified by a mechanism that requires users to lift the handles and turn the key to secure them. They are typically installed on double-glazed doors but are now also popular on new composite doors. One advantage of this type of lock is that it secures the door to the frame in three locations (top, bottom, and middle), unlike traditional locks that only have one position. However, the maintenance of these locks can be more complex and expensive if they need to be replaced. The lock itself is similar to a Euro lock cylinder and can be easily replaced with anti-drill and anti-snap locks, which we recommend as a replacement option.

If you have trouble lifting the handles with the door closed, it is usually a sign that the door is not properly shut or that the mechanism controlling the locking process is misaligned with the frame. We recommend that you contact a qualified locksmith to inspect the door and realign it with the frame to prevent costly repairs or potential security risks. You can easily book our locksmiths to adjust and service these locks by calling our office number 0800 707 4203.
